September 2026: I am honored to receive a $2,000 SAVE THE FROGS! Amphibian Conservation Grant for my project, “Using Environmental DNA to Improve Amphibian Monitoring and Build Local Capacity for Freshwater Biodiversity Conservation in Obudu Plateau, Nigeria.” The project will integrate environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding with conventional amphibian surveys to improve biodiversity monitoring while providing hands-on training to local students, park staff, and conservation practitioners in amphibian conservation and eDNA-based monitoring.
September 2026: I am honored to be named a recipient of the Vic & Oby Scholarship, which recognizes and supports immigrant undergraduate and graduate students pursuing higher education in the United States.
August 2026: I am honored to receive the 2026 New England Biolabs Passion in Science Award in recognition of my contributions to amphibian conservation through research, innovation, and community engagement. This award recognizes scientists whose work advances environmental stewardship and inspires positive change.
July 2026: I am honored to receive a $20,000 National Geographic Society Research Grant for my project, "Empowering Nigerian Youth to Lead Amphibian Conservation with eDNA: Piloting Scalable Open-Access Protocols for Africa." The project will train young Nigerian conservationists in environmental DNA (eDNA) techniques while developing open-access protocols to improve amphibian biodiversity monitoring and conservation across Africa.
July 2026: Invited to present "Nearly a Century of Amphibian Research in Nigeria: Progress, Gaps, and Future Directions for Research and Conservation" as part of the IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group International Webinar Series (Scheduled Nov. 2026).
July 2026: Research Presented at the Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists (JMIH) 2026. I presented my research on the climatic and anthropogenic drivers of amphibian richness and vulnerability in Nigeria at JMIH 2026, sharing findings with the international herpetological research community.
